Ocean College, Zhejiang University in collaboration with Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology of University Vietnam, and Inha University, South Korea, co-hosted the 3rd “Belt and Road” International Symposium jointly organized by, the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Vietnam and Inha University in South Korea from 23 to 27 June 2018 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The main theme of the conference is “the Connectivity in Asia: Trade, Transport, Logistics, and Business”.

More than 100 keynote speakers, presenters, and delegates from countries including China, Vietnam, South Korea, Australia, Thailand, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka attended the conference.

Professor Lee Taewoo, the “thousands foreign experts of Zhejiang Province” and Director of Maritime Logistics and Free Trade Islands Research Center of Zhejiang University, served as the chairman of the conference and presided over the opening ceremony.

Professor Gael McDonald, President of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Vietnam, Professor Hu, Kai-Chieh, Secretary General of the Asian Logistics Roundtable, and Professor Wu Wujing, Dean of the Business School of Inha University, attended the opening ceremony.

Mr. Kim Sooyeob from the United Nations Economic and Social Council for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP), based on the concept of common development advocated by the United Nations, made a keynote speech on the theme of “Being the Belt and Road in East Asia and the Challenges It Faces” The conference has been successfully held and also attracted the interests from the Vietnamese government and media.  

After the meeting, Professor Lee Taewoo was invited by the Vietnamese government to make a special invitation talk in Hanoi, and publicized the positive role of China's “Belt and Road Initiative” as well as the importance of Asian connectivity to the Vietnamese government, enterprises, universities and other fields.
