Workshop on Global Perspectives of the Belt and Road Initiative: Maritime Studies and China’s Global Investment, organized by ocean college, Zhejiang University, was held at the Zhoushan Campus from December 4th to 5th, 2017. Professor Ying Chen, Assistant to the president and Secretary of the Party Committee of Ocean College, delivered an opening remark on behalf of the organizer.
More than 30 scholars from China, Singapore, South Korea, Australia, the United States, Canada and other countries along the 21st century Maritime Silk Road and Pacific Rim countries attended the workshop, including Professor Suisheng (Sam) Zhao from University of Denver, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Contemporary China, Professor Young Tae Chang from Inha University of South Korea, Professor Kevin Li, Editor-in-Chief of the SSCI journal of Maritime Policy & Management, and Professor Anming Zhang from University of British Columbia, Canada, etc.
The participating experts discussed various important topics including China’s ocean economic strategies under the “Belt and Road Initiative”, China’s investment strategies in the process of 21st Century Maritime Silk Road cooperation, and how the relevant countries cooperated with China to achieve win-win cooperation. They also shared their latest research results on these topics.
