The center will organize one seminar about Great Bay Development of Zhejiang Province, China, on October 14th, 2019. Several famous scholars have been invited to give a speech and discussion at the seminar. The bio and photos of some speakers are as follows.
Invited Speaker, Professor Heather McLaughlin BA MSc PhD FCA CMgr FCMI CMBE
Heather is Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law at Coventry University and Professor of Management and International Transport. Previous roles include Director of Christ Church Business School, Director of the Centre for International Transport Management at London Metropolitan University, Head of Consultancy for the Global Policy Research Institute, and a professional career as a Chartered Accountant.
An active researcher, Heather has expertise in maritime transport, management and business education, and has served as a specialist advisor to the House of Commons Select Committee for Transport. She is a member of the editorial board of ‘Maritime Policy and Management’ and was co-editor for 10 years from 2007-2017. She was Master of the Worshipful Company of World Traders livery in 2014 and remains well connected in the City of London.
She is a member of the Chartered Association of Business Schools Council and Vice Chair of the Learning Teaching and Student Experience Committee.

Invited Speaker, Professor J. Rimmer
Peter J. Rimmer AM is an Emeritus Professor in the School of History, Culture and Language, ANU College of Asia & the Pacific, Australian National University. He is a graduate of Manchester, Cambridge, Canterbury (NZ) and Australian National Universities. He has been lecturer in Geography at Monash University (1965-67), Research Fellow, Senior Fellow and Professor in the Department of Human Geography, Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies, The Australian National University (1967-2000); elected a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences of Australia (1992); Distinguished Professor of Global Logistics in the Graduate School of Logistics, Inha University, Incheon, Korea (2005-07); awarded Doctor of Letters by examination at the Australian National University (2006); made Member of the Order of Australia (2007) ‘for service to economic geography, and to the urban and regional development in the Asia-Pacific Rim’; and Life Member of the Institute of Australian Geographers (2017). He has supervised doctoral research work, acted as a consultant to international aid agencies, and as an external examiner. His 318 publications include: Rikisha to Rapid Transit: Urban Public Transport Systems and Policy in Southeast Asia; Cities, Transport & Communications: The Integration of Southeast Asia since 1850 (with Howard Dick); The City in Southeast Asia: Patterns, Processes and Policy (with Howard Dick); Asian-Pacific Rim Logistics: Global Context and Local Policies; and Consumer Logistics: The Digital Wave (with Booi Kam).
Invited Speaker, Professor Minghui Shen
Dr. SHEN Minghui is a senior fellow at the National Institute of International Strategy (NIIS), Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). Also, he is now the director of the Dept. of Emerging Economy, NIIS (2012- ), the Secretary General of the Center for APEC and East Asian Cooperation, CASS (2009- ) as well as the member of council at Center for Youth Humanity and Social Sciences, CASS (2013- ). Dr. Shen has been a council member of several national associations including the Chinese Association of Asia-Pacific Studies, China Society of World Economics, China Society of Emerging Economies and standing council member of China International Economic Relations Association and Youth Committee under China Society of Emerging Economies. His research focuses on regional integration and FTA issues. He has published a variety of articles in Chinese and in English. Some of his articles are reprinted and indexed by the Xinhua Digest and Information Center for Social Sciences, Renmin University. In addition, Dr. Shen has published some articles in the People Daily and Economic Daily.
Invited Speaker, Associate Professor Ryuichi Shibasaki
Dr. Ryuichi Shibasaki is Associate Professor of Department of Systems Innovation, School of Engineering, the University of Tokyo, since March 2017. After his graduation of the Department of Civil Engineering, the University of Tokyo, he was research associate of the University of Tokyo until 2002. He worked as a researcher of National Institute for Land and Infrastructure Management, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Japan for 15 years, including temporary assignment as chief researcher of the Overseas Coastal Area Development Institute of Japan (2012-2015), visiting researcher of Modern Logistics Research Center, Tsinghua University (2006-2007), and visiting Associate Professor of Kyoto University (2014-2017). He specializes in global and intermodal logistics with modelling. He currently serves as an associate editor of Maritime Policy & Management and Asian Transport Studies. Also, he is one of organizers of International Conference on Transportation and Logistics (TLOG Network).
Invited Speaker, Professor Anming Zhang
Anming Zhang is a Full Professor in Operations and Logistics and holds Vancouver International Airport Authority Chair Professor in Air Transportation at Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia (UBC). He served as the Head of the Operations and Logistics Division, Sauder School of Business (2003-2005), and as the Director of UBC’s Centre for Transport Studies (2003-2004). He is President-elect of the World Air Transport Research Society (ATRS) and the President-elect of Transportation and Public Utilities Group (TPUG) of American Economic Association. Dr. Zhang is the recipient of the “Yokohama Special Prize for Outstanding Young Researcher” awarded at the 7th World Conference on Transportation Research (WCTR) in Sydney, Australia in 1995, and of the “WCTR-Society Prize”, awarded to the overall best paper of the 8th WCTR in Antwerp, Belgium, in 1998. In June 2014, he won the “Best Overall Paper Prize” at the annual ITEA (International Transport Economics Association) Conference on Transportation Economics, Toulouse School of Economics, France. Currently, he is also the VP (publications) of WCTR.
Dr. Zhang has published over 170 refereed journal papers and 30 book chapters in the areas of transportation, logistics, industrial organization, and Chinese economy. He has co-authored two books: Globalization and Strategic Alliances: The Case of the Airline Industry, 2000, Pergamon Press, Oxford; and Air Cargo in Mainland China and Hong Kong, 2004, Ashgate, London (Chinese editions published both in Hong Kong and Mainland China).
