Zhao-Yu Song, a PhD candidate at the Maritime Logistics and Free Trade Islands Research Center, has been awarded the Best Paper Prize at the International Association of Maritime Economists (IAME) 2024 Young Scholar Workshop. The conference occurred from 25-29 June 2024, in Valencia, Spain. Out of 18 submissions, 10 young scholars were shortlisted to present their papers, with Zhao-Yu Song being the sole recipient of the Best Paper Prize.
The award-winning paper, titled Performance Evaluation of Major World Container Ports in the Post-Pandemic Era: The 6th Generation Ports Model with Smart Ports, was recognized for its significant contribution to maritime economics. This research was conducted under the supervision of Professor Tae-Woo Lee, Guanqiong Ye, and was co-supervised by Professor Stephen Pettit and Yingli Wang at Cardiff University, UK. The prize is supported by the Valencia Port Chair of Port Economics, a collaboration between the Valencia Port Authority and the University of Valencia.
